And now for something completely different…difference makes life beautiful.
After a very successful festival circuit, running on over 180 film festivals and winning more than 50 awards, we’ve decided that it’s finally time to share “The Present” with the rest of the world.
“The Present” is based on a great little comic strip by the very talented Fabio Coala.
Make sure to check out his page: mentirinhas.com.br
“The Present” is a graduation short from the Institute of Animation, Visual Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
We really hope you enjoy the result of our hard work. Thanks to everyone who help creating this film and everyone who supported us during the festivals. Thanks a lot for making this such an incredible journey.
Of course I was angry at the kid’s gruff rejection of the disabled dog in favor of an inane video game. Great twist at the end when we see how the kid *is* like the dog physically and *becomes* like the dog mentally.

It was beautiful. I talked my wife into watching it, and she too became furious at the beginning. At the end, she was crying. It was a lovely film, and I hope many people see it.

I did tear up a little. It is a great short film with a message.

I felt so manipulated! I really didn’t like the kid at all, and thought he didn’t deserve to have such a sweet dog. Of course, once all is revealed, it all seems clear. Nonetheless, I don’t like to see anyone kick a dog aside for any reason at all. (My cat Charlie is exactly like that dog in personality.;)
